Liaison interpretation is a form of consecutive interpreting, which is to some extent the most personal and informal type of interpreting. It is principally used for small meetings or groups, for e.g. a business meeting between two different language speaking executives, at a police station, embassy or immigration department

Liaison interpretation is useful for small groups or meetings, one- on- one interview, etc.
It is also useful when the interpreter is rendering services as a chaperone, perhaps when the client is visiting to a foreign country.
It can be done consecutively, sentence- by- sentence or as in whispering, aside from notes taken at a time.
